Volunteer Opportunities

BE A VOLUNTEER AT AOC

AIDS Outreach Center (AOC) was founded in 1986 by members and volunteers of the GLBT community in response to a growing disease mainly within the gay community called “ARC”; now known as HIV/AIDS. The Fort Worth Counseling Center consisted of a team of volunteers who provided therapy and crisis phone counseling. Most community-based AIDS agencies started the same way. With a group of concerned, dedicated, and committed community citizens.

Back in 1986, we thought our services would no longer be required after 5-10 years. However, now in our 24th year of providing services to the HIV/AIDS community, AOC operates with a 44 member professional staff, and continues to rely heavily on our committed volunteers by providing quality care and services to members of our HIV/AIDS community.

We are in need of volunteers today more than ever. From serving 9 clients when the office first opened to more than 1,900 clients. AOC needs volunteers to work in the Nutrition Center, development department, fundraising opportunities and special events, outreach, Peer Advocacy, Camp Firelight, prevention, case management, and the Arlington office; as well as a number of other opportunities at any given time.

If interested in any of the programs and specific volunteer opportunities we have available, please complete the below preliminary application and submit. Thank you so very much for offering your time to support those in need.

After all…HIV/AIDS is about all of us!
